Reading & Writing Attitude Surveys All
teachers know that literacy achievement is affected by students’ beliefs
and attitudes about reading and writing. Here are two great
surveys that will let you easily and reliably estimate students’ attitude
levels. Using the scoring sheets to tally results will
give recreational, academic, and total scores for your students,
along
with a percentile rank for each.
Administer the two surveys at the
beginning of the school year and look for any trends you see
in your class. Have students complete
the surveys again at the end of the year, and you will have some
excellent pre- and post-test data for your students’ portfolios.
Let
Garfield help you assess your students’ attitudes in an
entertaining, yet efficient, way.
